This summer, visit the campgrounds that won the 2007 Camping Quebec Award of Excellence and the 2008 Quebec Tourism Awards. Winners of the 2007 Award of Excellence The Awards of Excellence, introduced in 1997, recognize campgrounds Categories
Entrepreneur Category Private campground with fewer than 150 sites Camping La Clé des champs (Montérégie)
Just about everything had to be redone. For some people this would be a discouraging prospect, but for the Clés des champs operators, it was an opportunity to develop the kind of campground that reflects their values: friendly and welcoming, where campers are seen as clients and customer satisfaction is king. Before making any decisions, the operators surveyed campers, looked at the potential of the campground and drew up a step-by-step action plan and followed it to the letter. It took them only a few years to instil new life in this campground and give it a new image. Their efforts paid off in short order, for the occupancy rate has shot up by 12% since 2005. Much of their success is due to the features they added: new sites and renovated older ones, a new electrical system and new sanitary facilities. The campground’s new image has taken hold and is now attracting a family clientele, both travellers and seasonal campers. The La Clé des champs campground is contributing to growth in camping. Its investments and professional management practices are giving the camping industry an excellent brand image.
Public or para-public campground Camping Parc de l'Île Melville (Mauricie)
The Parc de l’Île Melville campground has put great effort into three aspects of management: human resources, finances and operations. The campground goes all out to ensure its customers enjoy a memorable experience. Shuttle and reservation services are available at all times. Regional tourist attractions and events are promoted to complement activities at the campground, so as to encourage customers to prolong their stay and spread the economic benefits throughout the region. The campground also stands out in its special attention to human resources. For its managers, listening to customers’ needs and ensuring their satisfaction is key, which is why they have invested in their employees. No effort is spared to make every employee an exceptional ambassador for the campground itself and the region as a whole.
Private campground with 150 or more sites Camping Paradiso (Mauricie)
Since 2007, the Paradiso campground has been putting the finishing touches to an innovative concept: a “resort”-type campground that offers a Caribbean vacation atmosphere in a Quebec context. Campers feel as though they are on vacation as soon as they arrive, thanks to extensive new recreational facilities and a “tropical” décor and landscaping. This little corner of paradise even has its own official theme song, ensuring lots of fun for families as they sing along. It is a 100% family campground, with marketing strategies based on a media campaign and strong regional alliances, drawing on business and tourism partners to promote the campground and all its new features.
Camping Parc La Conception (Laurentides)
The Parc La Conception campground stands out for its concern with projecting an image of quality. All its promotional tools are designed to highlight the campground using its logo, a clear and high-quality visual. The new owners have focused on marketing as a way of promoting their campground, its equipment and services. The jury also wishes to acknowledge the exceptional quality of the Camping Lac Lafontaine Website.
Congratulations to all winners!
